We are planning another awesome weekend in Occidental - more details to come soon!

Our base will again be at the Occidental Lodge. We have set away a block of rooms for a reasonable price - watch Discord/Newsletter/EMail for an announcement on how to book these.

Likely we'll have rides Friday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday morning, with dinners planned. You can also join just one or some of these.

We regret, that the Summer Solstice Away Ride in Santa Cruz will not take place this year.  For understandable reasons, we did not generate sufficient interest in this event.  If you have reserved a room at the Mission Inn & Suites, we urge you to cancel your reservation.  No penalty fee will apply.  Next year, we intend to schedule this ride in May or earlier, so all participants may also benefit from the off-season rates.

Further, AMP supports our community through its commitment to Alameda’s Climate Action and Resiliency Plan.  Besides providing clean power, AMP offers programs and incentives for energy efficiency and electrification of our transportation sector.   As such, AMP shares Team Alameda’s goals of encouraging cycling and clean transportation in Alameda and providing support for E-Bike riders.

Hey Team Alameda!  We have two new sponsors supporting our group!

First up is Alameda Art Lab.

Alameda Art Lab offers classes in mosaics, stained glass, fused glass art and jewelry, wire art, painting and drawing for adults and youths. Located in Alameda, Alameda Art Lab also offers after-school classes, summer camps, parties (think birthday, bridal, girls' night out, you think of it, and they will help host it!) and team building events.

Alameda Art Lab is owned and operated by
JaYing Wang, a mosaic and glass artist, art teacher and business owner in Alameda since 2005.

JaYing Wang has taught art classes to hundreds of adults and children. She has been a mosaic and glass artist since 1995 and an art teacher since 2002. In the mid-2000's, JaYing owned Children's Art Studio in Alameda, CA, where she taught art to pre-school children and elementary school kids. She has also taught after-school art classes for Alameda Education Foundation, teaching at most of the elementary schools in town. In addition to teaching classes, JaYing also loves to work on large commissions. She has created many public mosaic murals in collaboration with schools (locally, she has installed murals at St. Phillip Neri, Otis Elementary, Bay Farm Elementary and Amelia Earhart school), as well as commissions for churches, restaurants, and even the South Shore shopping center.

You can check out the upcoming art classes being offered at Alameda Art Lab by visiting their website: www.alamedaartlab.com.

    Second up is Buestad Construction.

We are very happy to announce that local firm, Buestad Construction Inc., has agreed to sponsor Team Alameda for the 2024-2025 season!  We are very proud to join the list of other local community organizations that Buestad supports, such as Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley, the Alameda Architectural Preservation Society, the Alameda Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Alameda Point Collaborative among others.

The Buestad family has been active in the construction industry since founding a business in Norway in 1900.  In 1948, Buestad Construction was founded, and quickly became an Alameda asset by building the Alameda Municipal Golf Course and other private and civic projects.

This year, Buestad Construction celebrated 75 years in business in the United States.  Run by Team Alameda member, John Buestad (the third generation of Buestads to run the US organization), the company focuses on completing commercial builds, modern residences, and historic renovations across the Bay Area.  As their website states: “Buestad Construction brings the spirit of collaboration to each project. The company is known for its accommodating style, its willingness to experiment and research—all in support of ensuring client and design team goals. With over 75 years of building, Buestad knows the importance of delivering both the big vision and the exacting, minute details.”

If you are looking at a commercial build or a home renovation, please consider supporting Buestad Construction.  You can see examples of their beautiful work by visiting their website at www.buestad.com.
