News & Announcements

Every year the Team Alameda Board issues a “Call for Candidates”.  This is that “Call”.

What this really means is that we are looking for volunteers to help run the organizational side of our club for the next 2 years.  If you have ever given thought to giving back to Team Alameda, or to helping TA improve our club, this is a great way to do that —- and a perfect time to get involved at a new level.

Directors are elected for a 2 year period.  This year we have many open seats available.  It would be great to have 4 or 5 volunteers step up to fill those vacancies, more is even better!  If you are interested, or if you have questions, please contact any of our current Directors, their email addresses are listed under the Contact Us Tab on our website.  Don’t be shy — volunteer to serve.

The nominating period is now open.

If the number of candidates is equal to or less than the number of open seats, all candidates shall be deemed elected and such result shall be published to the membership without undue delay.

Should there be more candidates than there are open Director seats, the following election process will be followed.

            1.  Voting shall be conducted electronically, with voting instructions e-mailed to all members and posted in an appropriate “members only”.

Specific positions and functions for each Director shall be decided by the Board each January at its regular business meeting, at which time the Board also shall elect its officers for the year (see Article V)

Your Board is happy to announce that we are supporting the bike registration program offered by Bike Index, the largest bicycle registration data base in the world.  Bike Index is currently the registration program of choice of many local advocacy groups, agencies, cities and police departments in the greater east bay.  By registering your bike with Bike Index you increase the possibility of recovering your bike in the event that it gets stolen.

Please take a moment and register your bike/s now.

Or, for more information, go to our Other Rides Forum and read the "Someone Stole My Bike" post.  You can register your bike/s there as well.

Team Alameda's operating expenses, such as insurance and the web site, have increased substantially. We had a small operating deficit last year and the Treasurer currently projects a larger operating deficit this year.  As one of the measures to balance the club's budget we need to increase our annual dues, which we have not done for some years now.

Effective March 1, 2017 annual dues for Team Alameda will be $35 per year.
