All five of the lagoons have been lowered for the scheduled annual maintenance. We will circle the lagoons stopping at several vantage points to discuss the accumulated sediment and the possible future need for dredging. As you know the lagoons are an integral part of the City of Alameda Urban Runoff Program.
Remember - helmet, a snack, water & sun block
Giant For Women is offering three different "Ride & Retreat" cycling camps this summer at Northstar near Lake Tahoe.
June 5th is the first of the three, a road biking camp, and is recommended for experienced riders.
The July 10th and August 14th camps are mountain biking camps, and are open to beginners and intermediate riders.
The retreat is a women-only cycling-centric weekend. Wake up to morning yoga, spend the day riding and learning with the instructors, Olympic road veteran Mari Holden or mountain bike champion Tara Llanes. And you can take in the sights of Lake Tahoe's grand vistas with other like-minded bikey-type women!
Registration for the event is available at active.com for more info visit the Giant for Women Ride and Retreat website.
Effective May 1st, Team Alameda membership fees for individuals will be reduced to $25 annually, and *family members ride free*! After one paid membership per household, additional members such as a spouse, partner and children can become full fledged TA members for no additional cost.
Hopefully a membership in Team Alameda will be just the motivation needed to get your Significant Other out on a ride and on the path to cycling bliss.
-Team Alameda Board of Directors
Team Alameda has added our logo to the Land's End Business Apparel Library. What this means is that you can order any of the many styles of clothing from the Land's End catalog embroidered with the Team Alameda Logo!
And it's not just T-shirts--there are tote bags, windbreakers, dress shirts... All kinds of products that can be customized.
The cost of each garment is the price posted on their website, plus $8.50 to embroider the logo, and shipping. To see the variety of clothing and other items available, please click here. Available customizable apparel is located in the Group Apparel section.
To indicate the Team Alameda logo, Land's End has assigned our team logo a number, 0919358W, so specify that number when ordering.
The Board decided to use the Lands End Business Unit for team apparel for several reasons: there is is no minimum; they are a known manufacturer; they have a simple sizing chart and anyone can place an order whenever they want.
If you have any questions please Contact Peter.
From the Interim President
By now many of you have heard that there has been a change to the Board of Directors for Team Alameda. John Horton has resigned as President, and I was selected by the Board to serve as Interim President.
On behalf of the BOD, I would like to thank John for his time and efforts over the past few months. One of the issues that he was passionate about was the growth of Team Alameda. After seeing the turn out this past Sunday for the "Second Sunday Slow Ride," I have to say it appears that he was quite successful.
As Interim President, I would like to see this growth continue. In addition, and in accordance with our Mission Statement, I would like us to become more inclusive of riders at all levels and will make every effort to see what can be done to achieve this goal. Please feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions for Team Alameda's continued growth and success. Contact Peter.
