We're on for a weekend foray to Santa Cruz! Join us on September 11-12 for an up-close and personal California coast experience! Do the ride and win a prize! All participants will be automatically entered into our raffle. Prize TBD by our fiscally conservative Board of Directors.
THE RIDE... There will be two versions of the ride to Santa Cruz. On Saturday, September 11, a long version of the ride will originate in San Francisco and a short version will begin in Half Moon Bay.
We will overnight in Santa Cruz, and all riders will return on Sunday, September 12 to Half Moon Bay, at which point the ride will terminate. (Long Riders will be SAG'd to Alameda from HMB).
SAG will be provided along the route.
LODGING...A block of rooms have been reserved at The Mission Inn for Team Alameda members participating in the ride.
However, YOU must call and reserve one of the rooms on your own credit card by August 15th or risk unavailability. The block of rooms will be released August 16, so if you have not made your reservation by then, you will have to make your own arrangements. *All remaining unreserved rooms will be cancelled on August 16.* This is the hotel we have chosen, it is the same hotel we stayed at on the 2007 Santa Cruz ride.

The annual Team Alameda BBQ is happening on Sunday, October 3! Team members and families are invited to join your biking cohorts for festive food, fun, adult beverages and the yearly Board of Directors election.
If you are interested in volunteering to serve on the Team Alameda Board of Directors, 6 directorships will be open to the general membership. Details will be announced soon.
So, save the date, and see you there!
LAB-certified instructor and TA member Anthony Di Salvo will be offering a bicycle safety class to Team Alameda members. There are two classes in the series. The First Class is an evening lecture, and is a prerequisite to the on-road second class.
If you have taken the lecture class previously from Casey Wilson you are not required to take it again in order to qualify to attend the on-road class. Details are below.
This course is designed for all levels of cyclists who ride their bikes on the roads or trails. Through lecture, discussion, power point, and video presentations, you'll learn (or maybe be refreshed) about California law and how cyclists fit in to it. You'll learn valuable information on crash avoidance, emergency maneuvers, and traffic negotiation; and you'll leave the class more confident in your ability to make independent and safe choices while riding with the group!
Please RSVP by email to Anthony and indicate which class you will attend, and for further details. Space in the class is limited.
If you missed the opportunity to order one of the 2010 Team Alameda kits this winter, we have inventory available for purchase:
The kits were manufactured by Capo Forma, so if you can estimate your size based on any Capo garments you already own.
Several people have asked about ordering long sleeve jerseys. The minimum order is 25 pieces, so if you are interested in ordering a long-sleeve jersey, or purchasing one of the garments we have in inventory, Contact Peter.

The ride would begin in Half Moon Bay and travel down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz, and include an overnight Santa Cruz hotel stay. Riders would then retrace their route the next morning returning to Half Moon Bay.
