For a couple of days last week and over the weekend, a number of people noticed that our website was not accessible. Some people commented that access to the site was inconsistent - working on some devices, and not on others.
Well, you were not wrong about the problem. Our web site host - Wild Apricot - hosts a number of websites in addition to ours. And, as luck would have it, one of these other sites (not ours of course) was being used to send out "phishing" emails to lure people into giving up personal identification. Comcast discovered this and shut down access to the Wild Apricot site. So not only was our site inaccessible, but many other web sites were not available either.
Once we notified Wild Apricot of the problem they shut down the offending site and worked with Comcast to get access restored to the remaining sites hosted by Wild Apricot.
Since Comcast denied access to all the Wild Apricot sites, only those users who use Comcast to access the Internet were affected (and I happen to be one of them). Other members that use AT&T, or access the Internet from their mobile phones or tablets were able to get to our site since those don't use Comcast.
Our site is accessible again via Comcast as of today. Just thought I'd answer the inevitable questions.
