In addition to having good conversations, good food and an all-around good time at the annual BBQ held Sat. 8/20, Team Alameda members held a raffle that raised $653 in support of George Stephens who is battling cancer! Thanks to Alameda Bicyle, who donated a generous grand prize, to the TA members who also donated prizes, and to all the members who bought tickets.  And, as always, best wishes to George.

From an article in January 1st's SF Chronicle:

Highway Lane Use:  Current law requiring slow-moving vehicles to let traffice pass now also requires bicycles to use the next available turnout when five or more vehicles are behind them.

Earbuds and headsets:  Makes it illegal to wear headsets, earbuds or earphones inserted in or covering both ears while operating a motor vehicle or bicycle.
